Armenia, France discuss strengthening economic ties

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan is leading a delegation to France. 

Khachatryan met with Éric Lombard, the French Minister of Economics, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty.

They discussed the prospects of development of the Armenian-French economic cooperation, particularly through including new directions of mutual trade and investments and enhancing business ties, the ministry said in a readout. 

Deputy Prime Minister Khachatryan, highlighting the successful experience of cooperation with French enterprises, attached importance to the need for ensuring greater presence of French companies in Armenia, including in terms of involving new knowledge and developing business culture.

New possible directions of cooperation were discussed. The possibility of involving French funding and leading construction and engineering companies for the development of the Bargushat tunnel within the framework of the North-South road corridor project was discussed.

Highlighting the special importance of deepening economic ties with Armenia, Éric Lombard said that the French government will continue to focus on the presented projects, and necessary efforts will be made for their implementation.

The officials agreed on the next steps and future format of cooperation.
