Armenia has no unfulfilled obligations, reaffirms Foreign Minister

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has responded to the statement by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, which claimed that Armenia is allegedly not fulfilling its obligations regarding the unblocking of regional communications.

Mirzoyan emphasized that Armenia is consistent in its stance and has no unfulfilled obligations.

“The Republic of Armenia has not undertaken any obligations, including those related to the unblocking of regional infrastructure, that it has not fulfilled,” the Foreign Minister reiterated Wednesday during a Q&A session with Cabinet members in parliament.

Mirzoyan reaffirmed that Armenia is ready to open and contribute to the unblocking of regional and transport infrastructures as soon as possible.

“We have presented a profound and very comprehensive 'Crossroads of Peace' initiative, and within its framework, we have made very specific proposals to Azerbaijan,” the FM noted.

According to him, the unblocking process is not limited to negotiations with Azerbaijan but also includes dialogue with Turkey.

“The issue is not just about Azerbaijan. The unblocking of regional infrastructure is a much broader conversation that also involves our western neighbor,” Mirzoyan said, referring to the reopening of the Gyumri-Kars railway. According to the Foreign Minister, Armenia is interested in establishing transport and logistics ties with Central Asia and China, using Azerbaijani infrastructure.

"As a result of the lifting of the blockade, we aim to establish connections with Central Asia and China through the same Azerbaijani infrastructure.

We are continuing all these conversations with our partners," Mirzoyan added.
