High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan has lauded the success of iGorts, the program which invites Diaspora Armenian professionals to serve in the public sector.
Sinanyan said at a press conference on Tuesday that most of the participants prefer to stay in Armenia after the program's completion.
The program was launched in 2020.
“Experience shows that after completing the program up to 80% of the participants choose to stay in Armenia and serve in high public offices, as well as work in local private companies,” Sinanyan said.
Originally, the program didn’t have a repatriation component and was focused on involving the professional potential of Diaspora Armenians in the public administration sector. But the course of the program showed that it contributes to repatriation too.
Applications are open for iGorts 2025 until April 7.
Most of the applications usually come from Russia. Applications are also sent from China, Brazil, Uruguay, European countries, among others.
