Armenia wants to establish normal relationships with all neighbors, reiterates Speaker of Parliament

Armenian Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan reiterated that Yerevan attaches great importance to normal relations with its neighboring countries. 

Speaking at the 4th Meeting of EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee, Simonyan said Armenia is trying to pursue a balanced policy with regional countries based on diversification of security, economy, energy and other sectors.

Given its location at crossroads of civilizations, Armenia wants to establish relations based on open borders and partnership with its neighbors, he said.

“We are trying to pursue a balanced policy with regional countries and centers of power based on the diversification of security, economy, energy and other sectors. We are also expanding our cooperation with EU member states in the most various areas,” he said.

The Speaker emphasized that Armenia has opened a new chapter in its history. He said that Armenia has chosen the path of democratic development because it stands at the foundation of the European civilization’s system of values and is committed to strengthen democracy and security.

“We realize that this is a very difficult road full of dangers,” the Speaker said, adding that decision must be made as difficult as they may be given the global situation.
