Armenia's high-tech minister, World Bank representatives discuss prospects of enhanced cooperation

Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Mkhitar Hayrapetyan received representatives of the World Bank, led by the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Rolande Pryce.

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Minister Gevorg Mantashyan, Deputy Minister Gevorg Meliksetyan, Country Manager of the World Bank (WB) for Armenia, Carolin Geginat, and other representatives.

According to the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, Minister Hayrapetyan presented the strategic directions and priorities of the Government of Armenia, highlighting the importance of the “Crossroads of Peace” project, which aims to promote regional connectivity.

Minister Hayrapetyan briefed the participants on the legislative reforms and programs planned and implemented by the ministry. The meeting also covered various joint programs with the World Bank, particularly the "Engineering City" initiative, which the minister described as one of the best examples of cooperation. He expressed hope for further strengthening of the partnership.

In response, Rolande Pryce expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and presented the World Bank's key programs, especially those being implemented in the region. He also discussed opportunities for Armenia to participate in upcoming initiatives.

The discussion covered several agenda items, including cybersecurity, digital identification, cloud policy, and the development of broadband Internet connectivity.

 The meeting concluded with agreements on further steps and joint programs aimed at deepening cooperation between Armenia’s high-tech sector and the World Bank.
