Economy Minister, US Ambassador discuss prospects for Armenia-US economic cooperation

Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan on Thursday received US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Kristina Kvien.

Deputy Minister Narek Hovakimyan was also present at the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister briefed on the Armenian Government’s vision for the economy, which focuses on innovation, stability, and accessibility to global markets.

"Currently, we are taking steps to diversify exports, align with international standards, and attract foreign investments. In this context, we highly value the invaluable role of partners such as the United States in achieving these goals," noted Papoyan.

The prospects for Armenia-US economic cooperation, as well as several issues pertaining to export diversification, mining, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and ensuring food security, were discussed at the meeting.

Underscoring Armenia's interest in the American market and emphasizing the importance of boosting the recognition and promotion of Armenian wines there, Minister Papoyan suggested considering the possibility of organizing a visit to Armenia for American journalists and influencers.

The meeting also focused on the favorable business environment in Armenia and the wide range of investment opportunities available in the economic sector.
