China’s Xi accepts invitation to attend WWII Victory Day events in Moscow

Chinese President Xi Jinping has accepted an invitation to attend commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Moscow on May 9, TASS news agency reported citing the Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov.

"Chinese leader Xi Jinping has accepted the invitation to take part in festive events to be held in Moscow on May 9 to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War," the Russian diplomat said. "In turn, Xi invited [Russian President] Vladimir Putin to China to participate in festivities scheduled for early September," he said.

Earlier, Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov said that China will host events marking the 80th anniversary of victory over Japan and the end of World War Two.
