Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan has held a meeting with Alessandro Ferranti, the new Ambassador of Italy in Armenia.
Papoyan congratulated the ambassador on taking office and wished him success in all initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainable economic development for the two countries.
The minister and the ambassador discussed promising directions in the economy, possibilities of exports and imports in diversification of the economy, increasing bilateral trade turnover, modernization of technologies and expansion of commercial ties, the ministry said in a readout.
Organizing B2B meetings and expos for business circles was also discussed.
Mentioning that Armenia encourages foreign investments, the minister presented state support programs and proposed to consider opportunities of Italian companies investing in Armenia.
Ambassador Ferranti said that Italy plans to open the Agenzia ICE, Italy’s Trade and Investments Agency in Armenia. Papoyan welcomed the initiative and said, “We are ready to do everything to further strengthen the economic ties between Armenia and Italy.”
Expansion of cooperation in tourism was also discussed.
