The U.S. Congress has hosted several discussions as part of the International Religious Freedom Summit, during which speakers have raised, among others, the issue of the rights of the Karabakh-Armenians as well as the Armenian prisoners held by Azerbaijan despite Baku's obligation to release them.
The speakers at the event also warned of the endangered Armenian cultural heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh and called on the Trump administration to take action, Voice of America reports.
Congressman Chris Smith criticized the Biden administration’s policy concerning the Karabakh-Armenians, condemned Turkiye for the denial of the Armenian Genocide and condemned Azerbaijan to the ethnic cleansing committed in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Smith called for stronger cooperation and partnership with Armenia.
