Turkish police arrest suspects in shooting outside Armenian school in Istanbul, no injuries reported

Istanbul police arrested the suspects who opened fire at the Dadian Armenian school in Istanbul’s Bakırköy district on January 22. 

According to Turkish media reports police initially detained two suspects but released one of them shortly afterwards. The other suspect’s case has been submitted to court. 

Police found a handgun and ammunition during a search conducted at the suspect’s home after studying CCTV footage.

The footage appears to show one of the suspects firing the handgun at the school during the night, while his accomplice is collecting the bullet cases from the ground. Turkish media reports, citing police, said that the suspects were allegedly intoxicated. 

According to the report the attack resulted in broken windows and bullet holes on the private school building.

No injuries were reported. 

The motive behind the attack wasn’t immediately clear.
