On January 16, Deputy Minister of Justice Anna Karapetyan, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Artur Martirosyan, and Head of the Department of Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Samvel Mkrtchyan held a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions of EU member states accredited in Armenia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the foreign ministry, during the meeting, a detailed discussion took place on several aspects of the comprehensive and ambitious Armenia-EU cooperation agenda, including the successes achieved in the past year, progress in political dialogue, the draft of the new Armenia-EU Partnership Agenda, the implementation of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, the launch of dialogue on the liberalization of Armenia-EU visa regimes, support to Armenia through the European Peace Facility, the activities of the EU mission in Armenia, the expansion of cooperation in the security sector, and other related issues.
Referring to the draft law "On the Launch of the Process of Armenia's Accession to the EU," Samvel Mkrtchyan noted that the positive conclusion given by the Armenian Government aligns with the pace of deepening Armenia’s cooperation with the EU and its member states, as well as the European aspirations of the citizens of Armenia.
The parties exchanged views on issues related to regional security and answered a number of questions from the ambassadors of the EU member states.
