The Syunik regional court has convicted former Commander of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army Jalal Harutyunyan.

In response to an inquiry from Armenpress about further actions and preventive measures, Harutyunyan's lawyer, Arsen Sardaryan, stated that they still need to receive the judicial act, review it, and then decide on the next steps.

"The publication of the guilty verdict was very unexpected and worrying for us. At the moment, only the court decision has been published," said Sardaryan.

The lawyer expressed confidence that Harutyunyan's innocence has been proven in the case: "Until we receive the court act, and until we see what the judge wrote, it is premature to comment on the act."

Harutyunyan is suspected of negligently causing significant losses for the Armenian military forces during the 2020 War.
