Imangali Tasmagambetov, the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), considers the development of Armenia-US relations to be Yerevan’s sovereign right, Tass reports, citing his comments on the upcoming strategic partnership agreement between Armenia and the United States.

"In general, the establishment of such a partnership with Washington is the sovereign right of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of developing bilateral relations," said the CSTO Secretary General. He also emphasized that this partnership should not pose security threats to other states or international organizations.

Earlier, both Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressed similar views, considering relations between Yerevan and Washington to be Armenia's sovereign right.

Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken are scheduled to sign a strategic partnership agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the United States on January 14.
