Glendale Mayor Elen Asatryan has issued updates about the wildfires in California.
Asatryan called on residents of Glendale, home to a sizeable Armenian community, to maintain safety rules.
“The emergency level has been raised to Level 2 due to high winds expected tonight from 10 PM to 10 AM, increasing the risk of power outages, fallen trees, and wildfires,” she said on social media.
She said that police and firefighters are fully equipped.
“While there are no curfews at this time, our dedicated personnel at the Glendale Police Department are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our residents, our businesses, and our community at large,” the mayor said.
The Glendale police and fire departments are providing mutual aid to Pasadena and supporting efforts at the Palisades fire.
Glendale has sustained damage due to down power lines, fallen trees and debris. Authorities are working to restore power as quickly as possible. “If you encounter a down power line please stay away and call 911 immediately.”
