Meta is ending its fact-checking program in favor of a 'community notes' system

YEREVAN, JANUARY 7, ARMENPRESS. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday said the social media company is ending its fact-check program and replacing it with a community-driven system similar to that of Elon Musk's X.

“Fact checkers have been too politically biased and have destroyed more trust than they’ve created,” Zuckerberg said in a video announcing the new policy Tuesday.

“What started as a movement to be more inclusive has increasingly been used to shut down opinions and shut out people with different ideas, and it’s gone too far. The recent elections also feel like a cultural tipping point towards once again prioritizing speech, so we’re going to get back to our roots and focus on reducing mistakes, simplifying our polices and restoring free expression on our platforms,” he noted.
