YEREVAN, DECEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. Swedish Member of Parliament Erik Hellsborn has positively assessed the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace project and Yerevan’s efforts in implementing it.

In response to a query for Armenpress, Hellsborn touched upon the possible unblocking of connections in the South Caucasus, as well as the disagreements between Yerevan and Baku around that issue.

Speaking about the significance of Crossroads of Peace project, the Swedish lawmaker lauded Yerevan’s active efforts in that direction.

“It's positive to see that Yerevan is actively working on solving the issue,” he said in written comments.

In response to a question about Azerbaijan’s continuing narrative of an extraterritorial corridor in the unblocking issue, Hellsborn said that all transport through Armenian land must be done on Armenian terms.

“It's understandable that Azerbaijan wishes to more easily be able to transport people and goods between its mainland and western exclave [Nakhchivan]. But Baku must understand that all transport through Armenian land must be done on Armenian terms,” Hellsborn said.

Erik Hellsborn also touched upon the recent statement by Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan on the Azeri constitution containing territorial claims against Armenia. "Given Azerbaijan's history of aggressions I would say that such concerns are understandable,” Hellsborn said.
