25 people survive Azerbaijan Airlines crash in Kazakhstan – preliminary info

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. 25 people survived the Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 crash in Kazakhstan on December 25, according to the Kazakh Kazinform news agency. 

The flight J2-8243 was operated by an Embraer 190 aircraft, according to Kazinform. 

According to preliminary information, 37 nationals of Azerbaijan, six from Kazakhstan, three from Kyrgyzstan and 16 from Russia were on board. 

The plane was carrying 67 people, including five crew members.

According to preliminary information, 25 people survived the crash, of which 22 were rushed to hospital.

Multiple first responders are working at the scene.

The Azerbaijan Airlines plane en route from Baku to Grozny crashed on December 25 near the city of Aktau. The flight was rerouted from Grozny due to bad weather.

Azerbaijan’s Azertac news agency said the plane conducted an emergency landing after a bird strike.
