YEREVAN, DECEMBER 11 , ARMENPRESS. The "Civil Contract" faction of the National Assembly held an extraordinary session during which they decided to expel MP Hakob Aslanyan from the faction, according to a statement by the faction's head Hayk Konjoryan.

"The 'Civil Contract' faction has unanimously decided to expel Hakob Aslanyan due to a serious disciplinary violation and behavior that is highly incompatible with the values and political line adopted by the 'Civil Contract' party," the statement reads.

On December 11, Hakob Aslanyan announced that he would not participate in the faction’s sessions for the next month and would freeze his cooperation with the faction. Aslanyan stated that during that time, he expected the "Civil Contract" party and Hovik Aghazaryan, ousted from the faction, to clarify their relations. He also noted that he did not consider the expulsion of Hovik Aghazaryan from the party to be fair.

A few hours after his statement, Aslanyan posted a screenshot of a correspondence with Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan on his social media page, showing a message sent by the minister. A few minutes later, Aslanyan deleted the screenshot and published only a text in which he stated:

"My application to suspend my cooperation with 'Civil Contract' was based on incorrect information. I now consider my application to be erroneous and emotional. I declare that I will continue to be a full member of the 'Civil Contract' party and faction and will act in accordance with the decisions of the party and faction leadership. At the same time, I agree that the 'Civil Contract' party should be guided by high principles of order."
