YEREVAN, DECEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has met with Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission.
The meeting took place in Malta during the OSCE ministerial council.
FM Mirzoyan congratulated Kallas on taking office as EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission, and wished her successes in the current challenging times, the foreign ministry said in a readout.
The sides were pleased to note the latest important achievements in deepening the Armenia-EU partnership and unprecedented dynamics in development of relations. They expressed readiness to continue active partnership in advancing the ambitious agenda.
FM Mirzoyan and High Representative Kallas discussed the main components of the Armenia-EU partnership new agenda. The fact that as a result of joint efforts the Armenia-EU cooperation encompasses a broad range of areas of mutual interest, such as people-to-people contacts, democratic reforms and security was emphasized. The role of the EU monitoring mission, among other tools, was emphasized in ensuring the stability on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Regional issues were also discussed.
FM Mirzoyan comprehensively presented Armenia’s efforts aimed at establishing sustainable peace in South Caucasus, including in the direction of signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan. Issues of increasing interconnectivity through regional economy and transport connections were discussed.
