YEREVAN, DECEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the Republic of Armenia has always upheld its obligations as a member in the CSTO, but the allied countries did not support Armenia at crucial moments.
During a Parliamentary Q&A session with Cabinet members, PM Pashinyan recalled Armenia's decision to send a team of deminers and doctors to Syria in 2019, a decision made at the request of Armenia's ally despite the demands and complaints of Western countries.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the decision was based on the request made by the ally, and with that step, Armenia demonstrated what it means to be a true ally.
"Moreover, we were the only country within the CSTO to respond to the requests of our ally. Why did we do it? Because we said that this is the quality of relations we envision," Pashinyan said.
“But even then, they called us a Western puppet government. Let those people answer me personally at the highest level. However, I also want to point out that, unfortunately, not all of our allies share the same concept of being an ally as we do. And no one has any political, moral, or legal grounds to accuse us of anything. We have fulfilled all our allied obligations accurately, both morally, politically, and legally, but the allied obligations towards us have not been fulfilled.
In a difficult moment, they left us alone, they abandoned us, and yes, there are opinions that we were betrayed, and I have no argument to assure them otherwise,'' stated the Prime Minister.
