YEREVAN, DECEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. The problem of emigration has been under discussion since the 1990s and its reasons are often linked to social, economic and legal issues, but these are just a small part of the real reasons, according to PM Nikol Pashinyan.
The real reasons of emigration must be sought in the regional conflict relations and its consequences, Pashinyan said in parliament.
“The reasons we have so far pointed out, that are accurate and accepted, are just 10-20 percent of the reasons. Let’s admit, after all, 90 percent of the reasons of emigration are linked to our regional policies. The first to eleventh reasons of emigration are our conflict relations with our environment,” Pashinyan told lawmakers.
The social difficulties, lack of justice and economic problems are also connected with the conflict environment, which hasn’t been discussed in the public discourse for many years.
“Indeed, the 12th reason could be social difficulties, but let’s say that most of these social difficulties are connected to the conflict environment. The 13th [reason] could be the lack of justice, but this lack of justice is also linked to some extent to the conflict environment. We haven’t spoken about the social, internal conduct and status of the people who had assumed great responsibility on themselves in that conflict environment. We haven’t spoken about it. We must admit how many citizens of Armenia have left as a result of this situation,” Pashinyan said.
