Armenia to open embassy in Hungary

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS. The Cabinet approved a bill presented by the foreign ministry on opening an embassy in Hungary.

Armenia and Hungary agreed to restore diplomatic relations in 2022.

“There has been active political dialogue, multisector bilateral agenda between the two countries since the restoration of diplomatic relations, underscored by the high-level mutual visits and meetings in multilateral platforms on the level of presidents and foreign ministers,” the foreign ministry said in the bill.

It added that Hungary, as a EU country, is of significant importance for Armenia.

Bilateral cooperation includes political, trade-economic, interparliamentary areas and other sectors of mutual interest.

“Armenia emphasizes the importance of relations with Hungary and will continue to work with the Hungarian government to develop mutually-beneficial bilateral cooperation and constructive dialogue between the two countries. The Armenian-Hungarian cooperation has great potential of development also within the framework of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and Eastern Partnership,” the ministry said in the bill, stressing the important role of the Armenian community of Hungary in bilateral ties.

Opening the embassy will deepen the bilateral cooperation.

The two countries agreed to open embassies earlier in 2024.
