YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS. The newly appointed Permanent Representative of Armenia to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Armen Papikyan, on November 20 presented his credentials to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.
During a meeting after the ceremony, Ambassador Papikyan reiterated the Armenian government's commitment to expand and deepen the cooperation agenda with the Council of Europe, the foreign ministry said in a readout.
Papikyan attached importance to the implementation of the Armenia-Council of Europe 2023-2026 Action Plan and the Council of Europe’s support for the democratic reforms, ensuring the rule of law and the protection of human rights.
In the context of matters pertaining to regional security, Ambassador Papikyan said that Armenia is making continuous efforts in the direction of establishing peace and stability, as well as strengthening trust in the South Caucasus, and underscored the need for international partners’ support and active involvement in this matter.
Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset congratulated Ambassador Papikyan on his appointment, wishing him productive work for the benefit of further strengthening and developing the strong ties between Armenia and the Council of Europe.
