YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has attached importance to generating maximum revenue both by the people and the government in order to have a stronger country.
“Our attitude towards money has been anti-state, because we’ve been treating it either as something deserving [despise] , or sometimes as a subject of worship. Whereas if we view money from the perspective of the state, it is simply an instrument of government, without which no government can happen, without which a state cannot exist, without which a society cannot exist,” Pashinyan said in parliament during 2025 budget debates.
He quoted Luke 16:9, “And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous mammon…”
Pashinyan said the quote is a very deep thought.
“Our objective should be making a friend out of money, like the gospel urges us to do. I am saying this for one simple reason, if we want to have a strong state, we must together, as a people, as citizens, make as much money as possible, generate as much revenue as possible as a state, as citizens, and maximally enrich our common family budget, meaning, the state budget, through taxes.”
Pashinyan said he sees systemic problems in this regard.
