YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. Human Rights Defender of Armenia Anahit Manasyan has held a meeting with Germany’s new Ambassador Claudia Busch.
Manasyan presented the important directions of work of the Human Rights Defender, which includes, among others, the protection of the rights of women, children, national minorities, people with disabilities, human rights protection in the military, within the framework of criminal proceedings, protection of civil and socio-economic rights, combating hate speech and intolerance, combating discrimination and the protection of the rights of forcibly displaced persons.
In a readout, Manasyan’s office said she discussed, among others, the prevention of domestic violence and gender-based violence, as well as the need for ratifying the Istanbul Convention, and the importance of protecting and promoting women’s rights.
The Ambassador thanked for the reception and attached importance to the role of the Human Rights Defender’s institution in the mission of protecting human rights.
