YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan has said that the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations have been successful in the bilateral format and it is appropriate to continue without mediators.
Papoyan, the Vice Chairman of the ruling Civil Contract Party Board, was asked whether the issue of the unblocking of regional connections will also be discussed bilaterally without Russian mediation.
Papoyan said that mediators tends to approach the process by their own interests in the Armenian-Azerbaijani talks.
“If you’ve noticed, by and large the whole process has been taking place in the bilateral format lately,” Papoyan said, stressing the effectiveness of the bilateral format. He pointed out the bilateral meetings of the border delimitation commission chairmen, the foreign ministerial contacts, and the Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting.
He said that the negotiations in the bilateral format have been successful and it is appropriate to continue the work in that format.
“In my opinion the bilateral format has been effective and it is necessary to continue working in that format,” Papoyan said.
