Parliament enables veterans to return to active duty and keep pensions

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 31, ARMENPRESS. Parliament adopted at first reading the bill by Civil Contract MPs on enabling former servicemen receiving pensions to voluntarily sign up for service again and continue receiving the pension, in addition to the standard military salary.

Defense Minister Suren Papikyan told MPs that the government has no objections regarding the bill. 

“We believe that the proposed regulations will contribute to the process of supplementing the military posts of middle and lower circles in some border military bases,” he said.

The bill passed first reading with 88 votes in favor. The second reading will be held later today.
