YEREVAN, OCTOBER 21, ARMENPRESS. Citing only one map in the delimitation process would be risky, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan has said.
“The process of forming the maps of the USSR armed forces general staff lasted from 1974 to 1978 and is composed of nearly 20 parts. All these maps took effect in 1979. But even citing only the General Staff map, depending on the terrain, size and open parts, is risky. Yes, I think that citing one map would be very risky both in this phase and in another phase,” Grigoryan said at a parliament committee hearing, adding that this is the reason why the regulation of the joint activity of the border delimitation commissions signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan did not cite any map.
Grigoryan refused to disclose what specific map the parties have or will have. “The 1976 map pertains only to the Tavush section. Syunik’s is the [map] of 1978,” he said without elaborating.
