Armenian, Kazakh presidents discuss development of cooperation

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, ARMENPRESS. Kazakhstan is keen to elevate cooperation with Armenia to a new level, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev told Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan during their meeting in Astana.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed confidence that agreements achieved on October 15 will contribute to strengthening bilateral ties, Kazinform news agency reported citing the Kazakh President’s press office.

He said Kazakhstan attaches great significance to regular high-level meetings that lay a solid foundation for the Kazakhstan-Armenia partnership. The President said that Kazakhstan highly values friendly relations with Armenia and that Armenia is Kazakhstan’s reliable, close partner. The nations enjoy strong friendship and have a common history and cultural and humanitarian values.

Tokayev noted this year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Armenia.

Besides, he said the countries also established cultural and humanitarian ties between the nations. The Days of Kazakh Theatre were held in Yerevan last year. Next year the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan will take place in Armenia.

The Presidents are expected to unveil on October 15 the Days of Culture of Armenia in Kazakhstan.

During the talks, the presidents discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in trade and economic, transport and logistics, agrarian, financial, cultural and humanitarian spheres and digitalization, and regional and international agenda.

Days of Culture of Armenia in Kazakhstan are to be held on October 15 and 16 in Astana.
