YEREVAN, OCTOBER 14, ARMENPRESS. The First Armenian Front (FAF), a football supporters’ association, has called for the resignation of the Football Federation President Armen Melikbekyan after Armenia lost 0:2 to North Macedonia.
After the Sunday match in Yerevan, members of the association gathered outside the federation’s office to meet with Melikbekyan. The meeting did not take place.
“We were supporting Melikbekyan, we wanted positive changes in our football,” FAF founder Sergei Janjoyan said. “But unfortunately, we haven’t seen changes. Our position had been to give time to the federation, but we’ve reached a situation when the federation’s president is refusing to meet us, and this is not the first case. In this case we believe that the federation president must resign.”
Meanwhile, Armenia manager Alexander Petrakov was dismissed shortly after the 0:2 defeat.
