ASHGABAT, OCTOBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan attended an international conference in Ashgabat held within the framework of celebrations dedicated to the 300th anniversary of birth of renowned Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi.
The conference was titled Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development and was attended by Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Government officials from Mongolia, Pakistan and other countries were also in attendance.
In his speech, the Armenian President lauded the “unparalleled contribution” of Magtymguly Fragi in the region’s cultural and intellectual legacy, “especially Turkmenistan’s literature and national identity, and it continues to inspire generations in different corners of the world.”
“When you read the poems of Magtymguly you can feel the shadows and breeze of Turkmen gardens,” the president added, underscoring the peace-loving poetry of Magtymguly, who was spreading a message of peace to all peoples of the world.
President Khachaturyan said he was especially happy that the Armenian translation of selected works by Magtymguly Fragi will be presented in Ashgabat on October 12.
Turkmen leader Serdar Berdimuhamedow awarded the Armenian President a medal dedicated to the 300th anniversary of birth of Magtymguly Fragi for his contribution in popularizing the poet’s work.
