Armenia's stance is to maintain regulated and neighborly relations with all neighbors, says President to German counterpart

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, ARMENPRESS. A formal welcoming ceremony for the President of the Republic of Armenia was held at the German presidential residence, followed by a meeting between Presidents Vahagn Khachaturyan and Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

According to the Presidential office, during the reception of President Vahagn Khachaturyan and his delegation, the President of Germany expressed gratitude to Khachaturyan for taking the time to attend both the meeting and the Hamburg Sustainability Conference.

“At our recent meeting at the Special Olympics in Berlin, we discussed various realities and developments in your region. Currently, many problems and conflicts exist, and from this perspective, the Sustainability Forum holds significant importance for fostering a more peaceful and developing world.

I should mention that Germany is committed to promoting both intercultural ties and economic relations with Armenia, and I recognize that our interests are mutual. I also hope to fulfill my wish to visit Armenia in the near future,” said the German President.

According to the source, expressing gratitude for the reception, President Vahagn Khachaturyan noted that it was an honor for him to be at the German presidential residence. He thanked the President for the invitation to the Hamburg Stability Conference.

 “We highly value the close cooperation between Armenia and Germany in various directions, and Germany's presence in our reality is significant. We value Germany's continuous support and contribution to the implementation of democratic reforms in Armenia. I am confident that our cooperation will continue to expand in the fields of economy, energy, culture, education, and other areas, as there is a mutual desire and significant potential for collaboration,” said Khachaturyan.

It was noted that during the meeting, the German president expressed interest in the overall situation and developments in the region. In this context, the President of the Republic emphasized that Armenia is firmly progressing toward achieving stable and lasting peace in the region and has introduced the "Crossroads of Peace" program to support that goal.

In his remarks on Armenia-Turkey relations, the President highlighted that Armenia remains committed to normalizing relations without preconditions, as it has previously, "in this regard, specific steps have been taken to create and restore border infrastructures."

President Khachaturyan emphasized Armenia's commitment to maintaining regular and neighborly relations with all neighboring states, which he noted is in the interest of all countries in the region.

During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on several agenda items related to cooperation between Armenia and Germany.

At the conclusion of the discussion, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier emphasized that Germany supports Armenia's aspirations to establish neighborly relations with its neighbors and will make every effort to achieve lasting peace in the South Caucasus region.
