YEREVAN, OCTOBER 2, ARMENPRESS. There is nothing in the draft peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan that is unfamiliar to international diplomatic practice, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a question-and-answer session in the National Assembly in response to a question from Artur Khachatryan, a deputy of the "Armenia" Faction , who asked why the peace treaty document is being kept secret from the public.
"The content of the draft peace agreement is clear and understandable, because I have addressed these points on various occasions: in press conferences, speeches, and question-and-answer sessions. There is no issue of secrecy; the only concern is diplomatic propriety. I cannot hold up the document and detail what is written in every clause. It is a working document, and when you are negotiating with a second party, it means that at least that document involves another party so it would be improper to reveal it unilaterally. As for the remaining points, we have disclosed everything," Pashinyan explained.
This document addresses the establishment of diplomatic relations, the formation of a bilateral commission to monitor the implementation of the peace agreement, mutual recognition of each other's territorial integrity, the absence of territorial claims and other issues. In other words, there is nothing unfamiliar to international diplomatic practice in the draft peace treaty," said Pashinyan.
He emphasized that the entire content of the peace agreement, at least at the conceptual level, which accurately reflects the textual level, has been revealed to the public.
