Armenia never agreed to restrict its own sovereignty regarding regional connections - Pashinyan

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 1, ARMENPRESS. In case of unblocking of regional connections Armenia is ready to fully ensure the security of cargo, vehicles and persons in its territory, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has reiterated.

“In terms of reducing the duration of cargo shipments and seeking new alternative transport connections between Asia and Europe, North and South, I’d like to once again put the emphasis on the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace project,” Pashinyan said at the EEU Intergovernmental Council session in Yerevan. “The purpose of the project is to develop more favorable conditions for trade-economic ties between all stakeholder countries, as well as significantly increase the region’s logistical potential, based on the principles of full respect to the countries’ sovereignty and jurisdiction, equality and reciprocity. The Republic of Armenia is ready to fully ensure the security of passage of cargo, vehicles and persons in its territory.”

The Armenian Premier once again denied rumors claiming Armenia agreed to another country ensuring security of connections in its territory.

“There have been comments claiming somehow, somewhere Armenia agreed to some restriction of its sovereignty regarding regional connections. Such thing never happened, and this is a distortion of reality. Armenia’s commitment is to guarantee the security of cargo, vehicles and persons in its territory, and we do guarantee this,” Pashinyan said.
