YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. As part of the "Crossroads of Peace" project, Armenia aims to quickly and reliably connect the Indian Ocean with the Black Sea, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan said during the panel discussion at the third EAEU forum.
"One of the key elements of this strategy will be the opening of an Armenian representative office in Iran’s Chabahar port, which will strengthen our trade ties not only with Iran but also with India. The route through Armenia will be of vital importance not only for Armenia but also for India, which seeks to diversify its trade flows and supplies," said Papoyan.
According to the minister, cargo will be transported from the port of Mumbai in India to Chabahar, then through Armenia to the ports of Georgia, and finally to Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and other EU countries.
"Such a route will reduce logistics costs by 25 percent and significantly shorten delivery time from 40 days to about 25 days," concluded Papoyan.
