MEP Fernand Kartheiser calls on Azerbaijan to release Armenian POWs and unlawfully detained persons

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS. Member of the European Parliament Fernand Kartheiser (Luxembourg) has called on Azerbaijan to guarantee Armenia’s territorial integrity, preserve Armenian cultural heritage in Nagorno Karabakh and release the Armenian prisoners. 

Kartheiser released on X his letter written to the Azeri ambassador to the EU ahead of COP29 in Baku.

In the letter, the MEP expressed concern regarding the threats to Armenia’s territorial integrity and encouraged Baku to sign a peace treaty with Armenia as soon as possible. 

The MEP named the Armenian POWs and unlawfully detained officials of NK, and joining international calls appealed to the Azeri government to release them, thus contribute to the improvement of the regional situation. He said the international community would welcome such a humanitarian move.

With the eyes of the world on Baku for #COP29, I have written to the Azeri ambassador to the EU to push for peace with Armenia.

Baku must:
