Armenian, German foreign ministers discuss EU cooperation, regional developments

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. On September 24, on the margins of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Annalena Baerbock, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany. 

The foreign ministers discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest: bilateral agenda, deepening of the Armenia-EU partnership as well as regional topics, the foreign ministry said in a readout.

“We highly appreciate Germany's support for the continuous and effective implementation of democratic reforms in Armenia both bilaterally and through the EU platform. This, of course, brings Armenia closer to the European Union, as we explore more prospects for cooperation”,- emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. 

The Ministers noted with satisfaction that the Armenia-EU cooperation is developing in numerous important directions, reflected in the new Armenia-EU partnership agenda.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Germany thoroughly touched upon the regional developments. 

In the context of the security situation in the South Caucasus, views were exchanged on the latest developments in the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. FM Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that, at the moment, there is a real chance of signing the peace treaty for the realization of which a firm political will is necessary, which Armenia has clearly expressed.
