YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Defense of Cyprus Vasilis Palmas has described his visit to Armenia as a guarantee of the strong ties, friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Suren Papikyan, Palmas thanked him for the warm reception and “extremely important and constructive discussions.”
“Our countries have rich history, common cultural heritage, and a deep understanding of the challenges that small states must overcome and withstand. Small states that are determined to defend their territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Palmas said.
He said that Armenia and Cyprus have developed substantial, developing ties and cooperation in defense and security. “Our cooperation includes mutual visits of military personnel, joint exercises and trainings, as well as the defense procurement sector. The partnership of our armed forces has further strengthened thanks to this format, and at the same time the mutual respect and mutual understanding has developed. We assess our relationship to be excellent,” the Cypriot defense minister said.
