United States reiterates support for Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS. The United States State Department has reiterated its support for the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process.

State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said at a press briefing that the U.S. “continues to support the efforts of both countries to reach a durable and dignified peace agreement.”

Miller was asked about the recent phone calls of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and whether Washington seeks to organize another summit in New York.

“So, I don’t have any announcements to make. Obviously, we always look for opportunities to convene the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. We continue to support the efforts of both countries to reach a durable and dignified peace agreement. They have made significant progress towards finalizing a peace agreement, and we’re committed to supporting them in any way that we can, including convening a meeting if that’s helpful,” Miller said.
