Government’s ultimate goals are preservation and development of state and people’s identity, happiness of citizens - PM

YEREVAN, AUGUST 31, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian government will focus on the agenda of balancing and balanced foreign policy and peace agenda, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said, noting that the government sees the preservation and development of the state and the people’s identity, as well as creation of institutional conditions for ensuring happiness of the people, as its ultimate goals.

“Deep changes of the perception of the state and statehood have been taking place in Armenia in the past years,” he said at a press conference, adding that the concept of these changes is that the Republic of Armenia is an instrument to ensure the prosperity of its citizens and not achieve a bigger country, with an understanding that security and freedom are integral parts of prosperity.

He said that the continuous development of state institutions and work are the means to ensure a higher level of security and freedom.

Pashinyan was pleased to note that as of July 2024 there were 178,000 more employed people in Armenia compared to July 2018. The number of employed people in the abovementioned period grew from 572,000 to 750,000.

The average monthly salary grew from 181,000 drams to 307,000 drams. “This is one of the most important manifestations of the fact that ever since the 2018 non-violent, people’s velvet revolution the economy in Armenia has been steadily developing, creating institutional preconditions for strengthening the sovereign state and prosperity of its people.

At the same time, the PM stressed that education and a higher level of teaching qualification is a key precondition for having more results.

He said the Armenian government has unwavering commitment for the peace agenda and balanced foreign policy.
