City Hall to designate Hrazdan Gorge as recreation area

YEREVAN, AUGUST 24, ARMENPRESS. Yerevan City Hall plans to designate the Hrazdan Gorge as a recreation area, Mayor Tigran Avinyan has said.

“We plan to designate the gorge as a recreation area, with a new status and new restrictions,” Avinyan told reporters.

Businesses operating in the area will have to adhere to the new regulations in terms of maintenance, construction and other activities.

In the initial phase City Hall will restore parts of the gorge spanning from Kievyan Bridge to the Victory Bridge.

A community service day involving volunteers, City Hall staffers and the Mayor himself took place on Saturday in the gorge.
