Armenia’s Justice Ministry and Democracy Development Foundation discuss Rome Statute post-ratification

YEREVAN, AUGUST 23, ARMENPRESS. Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Sirvard Gevorgyan met with Tatevik Khachatryan, Senior Programs Manager at the Democracy Development Foundation and Arpi Harutyunyan, Program Manager for "Justice and Human Rights."

According to a press release from the Ministry of Justice, the foundation's partners presented a program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, aimed at ensuring the proper implementation of the Rome Statute's tools.

Plans to create a platform that would enhance cooperation between civil society and state institutions were also discussed at the meeting.

Sirvard Gevorgyan expressed appreciation for the involvement of civil society in the post-ratification process of the Rome Statute and outlined the efforts coordinated by the Ministry of Justice in the post-ratification phase.

Regarding the draft law regulating cooperation with the International Criminal Court, Sirvard Gevorgyan mentioned that they expect to receive observations from the court in the near future.

The parties discussed further joint steps and agreed to continue cooperation in the specified areas.
