Armenia to establish laboratory for testing local product's quality

YEREVAN, AUGUST 22, ARMENPRESS. Armenia plans to build an isotope laboratory to check the quality of national products, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said during a briefing with journalists following a government session.

The minister refrained from commenting on recent statements from Russia regarding the safety of Armenian brandy, noting that the Ministry of Economy has not received any official document from Russia on the matter.

According to Papoyan, work is currently underway within the framework of a European Union program to establish the "Armenian brandy" brand. According to the minister, practical steps in this direction will be taken starting in 2025, with the aim of enhancing the quality control of local products.

The Economy Minister emphasized that if the project is not implemented, Armenian producers will be required to test the quality of their products in a European laboratory.

Additionally, Papoyan mentioned, without itemizing specific brands, that Armenian cognacs exported to Russia are currently undergoing isotopic testing there.
