India is set to commence the delivery of its indigenously developed Akash 1S air defence missile system to Armenia, its first foreign buyer

YEREVAN, AUGUST 8, ARMENPRESS. India is set to commence the delivery of its indigenously developed Akash 1S air defence missile system to Armenia later this year, according to statement from Indian Defence Research Wing».

It is reported that, Armenia had placed an order for 15 Akash missile systems in 2022, amounting to approximately US$720 million and Armenia will be the first foreign buyer of these systems.

The systems being supplied are from the Indian company Bharat Dynamics Limited.

 The Akash-1S systems use a combination of simultaneous active search and targeting, providing reliable protection against air threats such as fighters, guided missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
