Elina Avanesyan to represent Armenia starting at Cincinnati Open

YEREVAN, AUGUST 6, ARMENPRESS. Tennis player Elina Avanesyan has received Armenian citizenship and will represent her homeland starting at the Cincinnati Open.

“Honored to announce that I have received my Armenian citizenship and will proudly represent Armenia starting at the Cincinnati Open on Monday! This journey has been incredible, and I am excited to bring my best to the court and play for my ancestral homeland. Thank you to everyone for your unwavering support,” Avanesyan said on social media.

Avanesyan was born in Russia to an Armenian family.

The 21-year-old tennis player has career-high WTA rankings of No. 58 in singles and No. 168 in doubles.
