Armenian FM meets with President of Cyprus

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has met with the President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides in Nicosia.

FM Mirzoyan and President Christodoulides discussed regional issues and the agenda of the high-level political dialogue between the two countries, the foreign ministry said in a readout.

Both sides underscored the importance of the decision to open resident embassies in Yerevan and Nicosia in terms of expanding partnership, enhancing the agenda in new directions and securing the continuity of tangible results.

The Armenian FM expressed readiness to implement new initiatives in areas of mutual interest, particularly in promoting high tech and tourism, as well as the economy.

“The importance of the close cooperation of the two countries both bilaterally and multilaterally in the current difficult geopolitical conditions was underscored. Joint efforts in the direction of further deepening Armenia’s comprehensive partnership with the EU were also discussed,” the foreign ministry said.

In the context of regional developments, the Foreign Minister presented Armenia’s approach regarding the normalization process with Azerbaijan, including on the signing of a peace treaty by recognition of territorial integrity and ensuring the continuity of delimitation based on the 1991 Alma Ata Declaration. The importance of the implementation of the Crossroads of Peace – the Armenian government’s project of wider regional significance – and cooperation with international partners in this direction was also discussed.
