Yerevan Mayor Receives Canadian Ambassador to Armenia

YEREVAN, JULY 12, ARMENPRESS. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Armenia Andrew Turner.

 According to the statement from Yerevan mayor's office, touching upon cooperation between Yerevan and Montreal and the agenda of bilateral relations, the parties identified a number of areas.

Relations between Yerevan and Montreal were established in 1998. In 2001, an agreement was signed between the parties declaring them sister cities.

The Mayor and the Ambassador stressed that there is a need to update the signed documents in order to give new impetus to bilateral relations.

 Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Andrew Turner noted that the presence of a diplomatic mission in Yerevan is already an important step for both countries and cities.
