When fascination turns into employment: the story of one business

YEREVAN, JULY 12, ARMENPRESS. Around 3 years ago, an Armenian woman set out to initiate and execute her bold idea, despite not having any business skills. Her idea has been steadily developing and gaining recognition ever since. Hasmik Mehrabyan relies on the “intellectual heritage” passed down to her from her grandfather, and has been providing support for her family while also improving the health of her compatriots. Her creams and patches are made from natural ingredients, and are in high demand by those familiar with their properties who prefer such products.

The story of the Hasi nature brand’s creation and its niche place in the Armenian market can serve as an educational and inspirational tale for those seeking to start their own business.

From fascination to idea and action

It all started with Hasmik's interest in native nature, particularly in plants that have useful properties. A likely contributing reason is the hereditary factor, as Hasmik’s grandfather was similarly interested in herbal medicine. Hasmik was very interested in the notes and observations of her ancestor.

“Finally I decided to get to work and began making some infusions. I looked over my grandfather’s notes again, gathered all the necessary herbs, acquired bee products and started working. It was like magic: what I wrote down on paper gradually became tangible. And just like that, by mixing these ingredients, by adding and subtracting their doses, I finally had my first remedy. To be honest, at first I couldn’t even imagine how serious this would become. My desire to help people was strengthened even more when I was forced to deal with my own health recovery. Hasi nature has been in the market since 2021,” said Hasmik in an interview with Armenpress.

A little secret

The success of this family business can also be attributed to the fact that the young woman adds warmth and soul into her created products. She prefers to gather the required ingredients herself, which in itself has certain nuances. She only gets bee products from beekeepers she trusts. For herbs, she only gathers them by hand in the wild. She states that they have to be far away from roads and settlements. This, along with the period of stocking the plants, their subsequent processing and storage, is very important. Certain plants can only be gathered in the morning, while others can only be gathered after the sunset.

The first of anything is always the most unique

Hasi nature captured the market with the production of its cream. According to Hasmik, it has a positive effect on arthritis, arthrosis, varicose veins, dyshidrosis, rheumatic, muscular pains, leg heaviness, and osteochondrosis. The unexpected positive reception from its users inspired and pushed the company to move forward with new ideas.

A new milestone: new perspectives

"Excited by my first success, I decided to make different creams for the face. I wanted to create a product that was entirely made of natural ingredients, as there was a noticeable lack of them in the Armenian market. The ones available had astronomical prices. We were able to solve that issue. Our face creams are completely natural (without any chemicals) and perfectly restore, moisturize, nourish and tone the skin, eliminate facial wrinkles, reduce deep wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under the eyes, pigment spots and much more,” said Hasmik Mehrabyan.

Her company already offers more than 20 types of natural restorative products to the consumer. They are intended for use on the face, hair, foot and for general body care.

Antifungal foot creams, burn creams (used for 1st and 2nd degree burns), lip balms, etc. are also offered.

"I'm currently trying to create an ointment that will help restore people's health," Hasmik stated without elaboration. Are you interested?

What makes it stand out?

And how do Hasmik's products stand out from the products of competitors, particularly those in foreign markets?

"In addition to herbs, bee products, and unrefined oils, we also use special solutions made from plant species found in the Ani region of Shirak province. All of it is prepared with recipes that have been passed down for 3 generations now,” added our interviewee.

How safe is this?

This important question interests everyone. Hasmik notes collaborating with cosmetologists, and that her products have gone through lab testing and are certified.

The formula to success

When does a fascination turn into an employment opportunity that can generate income? That is still highly individualized. To those seeking to start their own business, Hasmik Mehrabyan offers to ignore difficulties and to confidently start implementing your ideas. Hasmik defines her formula as the following: “success is the sum of hard work and responsibility.”
