Belgian businessmen to participate in World Congress of Information Technologies in Yerevan

 

YEREVAN, JUNE 13, ARMENPRESS. This year, the World Congress of Information Technologies will be held in Yerevan from October 4 to 7, attended by members of a consortium consisting of 83 countries. About a hundred exhibitions and more than 10,000 participants are planned.

The Belgium-Armenia Chamber of Commerce will also attend this major event, along with several Belgian business leaders.

 Ahead of the event, a meeting was held in Brussels with the participation of representatives from the chamber and businessmen, during which the opportunities in the IT sector in Armenia and cooperation with well-known international organizations were presented.

Armenia's Ambassador to Belgium, Tigran Balayan, and the head of the mission of the Republic of Armenia to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Arman Israelyan, along with Belgian politicians and businessmen, were also present at the meeting.

In his opening speech, Valery Safaryan, President of the Belgium-Armenia Chamber of Commerce, presented the developing IT sector in Armenia, the theme of this year's congress, and the work of the chamber. He emphasized the participation of Belgian companies in the congress to be held in October.

Ambassador Balayan presented the current and state projects of the sector and welcomed the continuous activity of the Belgium-Armenia Chamber of Commerce.

"In terms of developing trade and economic relations between our countries and establishing cooperation between scientific institutions, such events contribute to getting to know each other and definitely enjoy the full support of the embassy," said Ambassador Balayan.

Grigor Hovhannisyan, member of the Union of Advanced Technologies Enterprises, founder of Formula VC, presented Armenian startups and internationally recognized organizations operating in Armenia.

In his speech, he emphasized the participation of women in the ICT sector, noting that Armenia is a world leader with about 40% participation of women in the ICT sector.
