YEREVAN, JUNE 10, ARMENPRESS. Armenia has always behaved as a loyal partner in relations with Russia and believed until the last moment that Russia would not leave Armenia alone.
During a briefing with journalists, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan commented on the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sending a note of protest to the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the Armenian delegation's visit to Bucha, Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry described the visit as an "unfriendly move by Yerevan".
"I am not going to comment on unfriendly actions on behalf of the FM. Let them review their actions after 2020. Armenia has always behaved as a loyal partner. We believed, with the innocence of a child, until the last moment, that Russia would not leave Armenia alone, that it would not 'abandon' the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people. Sorry for that word. The Russian government 'abandoned' the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people. They deceived us, they left us alone," emphasized Simonyan.
The Speaker of the National Assembly noted that he watched with slight envy and surprise as the US Navy approached Israel's borders and began to shoot down thousands of rockets. Airplanes flew from Cyprus to help Israel.
"I'm not discussing whether it was worth allowing the 44-day war to happen, or whether the Russian Federation was so weak in 2020 (there was no war in Ukraine at that time) that it permitted them to come in and kill our soldiers. Wasn't there a ship in the Caspian Sea that came a little too close to Azerbaijan? Not to mention that throughout the entire war, we hoped like innocence children that we could somehow stop the war and we tried all possible options," Simonyan concluded.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent a letter of protest to the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the visit of Armenian Ambassador Vladimir Karapetyan to Bucha, Ukraine, and the head of Yerevan's Nor-Nork Administrative District, TigranTer-Margaryan. The Russian Ministry described this visit as a "clearly unfriendly move by official Yerevan."
